Ihave a Perkins 102-04 10 H.P. diesel twin cylinder, which apparently shares the same block as a Volvo engine, the purpose behind my posting is i need to find what model the volvo engine is as i wish to marinise it for fitting to my islander 23 hopefully end of this year,as such i require bellhousing/adapter plate for gearbox, gearbox ,driven plate, water cooled manifold and being used to raw water cooling any advice on cooling manifold-exhaust when using a closed system as obviously water would normally flow through it.
thanks in anticipation, dave.

Do you really want to use Volvo parts to complete your engine, its probably the most expensive way forward!

Try companies such as Lancing etc. There was a company (at NW Boat Jumble) sellling Perkins marinised with non-VP parts

bloody heck roy

three posts so far!
also he could try asap-supplies.com for all the marinisation parts including bell housings. the catalogue is worth having just to see waht is available.
the perkins M30 or 103 is the vp 2030 so i presume that the 102 is the 2 cylinder one eqivalent to the vp2020

Hi Dave....very late reply to your post so apologies for that.

The Volvo equivalent is indeed the Volvo 2010 but you've probably found out all of this by now. Let me know how far you've got. I have exactly the same engine and have just started the marinisation process. Seems that the bellhousing and heat-exchanger are the awkward parts.

This is apparently an unusual engine to marinise (...though can't quite understand why). I have a number of useful supplier contacts, numbers, web-sites, etc, which may be helpful if you've still not completed the process.

Certainly the Volvo equivalent parts are very expensive (I'm replacing an old Volvo with this one). Perkins themselves are pretty hopeless with marinisation help. Lancing Marine think it'll be quite expensive to marinise but we'll have to see!

Cheers
Dave
