Perkins Thermostat

Could some body please tell me where the thermostat(s) is/are on a perkins HT6354 range, the 185hp one. Ive looked where I though it would have been but its not there. Also is there only one or two? I only thought that there might be two because of the lower and upper temp gauges which both lowered to the same temp when I got the thermo to open once but its probs just a dodgy sender but my old souter did have two thermos.

Have you got the perkins range 4 engines? (red)
Thermostat will be in the top of head at the front, if its not there has it been removed already?

On the upright ones the stat is between the head and the headertank.

Yes those are the ones. Ive looked there, I think but ill have another look this weekend.

I'm confused, are they HT6.354 or upright ones?

HT6.354 - Horizontal, turbo, 6 pot, 354 cubic inches.
T6.354 - Turbo, 6 pot, 354 cubic inches.

SO sorry I got a ickle bit confused. They are the HT ones. I think they have an intercooler to make them the 185hp, but they may not be and im not sure because they are relatively new to me.

Yes, they have a charge cooler, the 145's have a charge cooler, the 175's have a larger cooler.

i have a parts book here that shows 2 stats in the front of the header tank/manifold behind a plate, not at home for a while now but will try to get it scanned if i can to show you

Have you found what you need? I've got the Perkins shop manual at home and can have a looksee if you are still stuck.

How do your temp gauges work? If mechanical with the ether tube then follow the tube back to the engine and the sender is, IIRC, on the thermostat housing. Electic ones will have a sender there as well, but the wires may be harder to follow. On normal rotation HTs the stat is to the right of the header and behind it, away from the water pump etc. I'd need to check on the GTs but logically it wont be very different as the block is the same.

Problem solved. I have found them thanks to aquapowers PDF and there is two thermos. I just have to order some new ones now because the ones I have are the wrong ones but I know which ones to order. Thanks for your help everyone!!!!!! If I get stuck again then I will post again but I should be ok. Thanks again everyone!
