Perkins Cruising RPM

I normally cruise with my RLM 27 fitted with 24 year old twin Perkins 4108 engines at 2000rpm returning approximatly 1 GPH per engine, but is this the correct cruising rpm for these engines?
Running at 2300 rpm is not a problem but is there a correct RPM.
Comments from other boat owners with simular set up appreciated.

2300 seems to be a typical cruising rpm for this engine. Mine is normally run at 2000. No-one runs at 3600, which is what the handbook appears to suggest can be expected.
