Perkins Alternator Replacement Issue

I think I burned the regulator on the original Lucas alternator for my Perkins M30 so I bought a replacement alternator from Rollco and have noticed that there are a couple of black boxes/sensors(?) on the old one. Does anyone know what these are for? Do I transfer them to the new one?

They are noise suppression capacitors. They aren't essential for the operation of the alternator, but should result in a cleaner output and will help eliminate interference on radios.

You could of just replaced the regulator available on ebay from £10 really easy on theLucas A127 alternator.

It’s not quite that simple if it’s an isolated earth alternator. I found it impossible to source an isolated regulator for the alternator on our Perkins M50, but it is possible to modify an A127 regulator to make it isolated - Perkins Prima M50 alternator output voltage

I have a Perkins M20 which has an isolated return A127 alternator.I just fitted the ebay one ten years ago no problems putting out 14.4v.

Looking at the old alternator it is a Lucas but the regulator has a Mercedes logo so maybe the previous owner did something similar.
