Why not tie-up to the Hardway pontoon (£10/night) and have dinner in the club (steak & chips for £7.95, and beer at £2.40).

Have done the steak and chips with a beer at Hardway SC several times after using their scrubbing posts. HSC seems a great club and their food/beer is good. If I wasn’t happy with my own club I’d have applied for membership there years ago.

I'd have no problem with someone using my mooring for a peaceful night on board, just be there in case I turn up and want my mooring. If the weather's quiet enough, I might even let you share the mooring overnight. Seems to me that that's part of sailing - just don't lasso my buoy in a gale!

We took one of the moorings off Hardway Sailing Club for a lunch/rain break during the summer. Weird wind/tide combo was pointing boats every which way. We got out of there after making contact with a neighbouring boat swinging in the completely opposite direction. Not the place of a peaceful overnighter.

Yes, Hardway's an odd place in difficult wind/tide combinations. Then there's your fin keeler sitting firmly in the mud, south of the buoy, when that cat starts to float and wants to be north. Or your cat and that fin keeler, of course. This can apply anywhere in the harbour, but around Hardway, most of the moorings are for small boats.

Can you call an authority to find out exactly which moorings are not being used/let? I pick up moorings quite often in iTchenor rEach but can never fully relax knowing the occupier may return at some point especially at night.

I hadn,t thought of picking up a mooring here, it would be ideal for me, excellent, i don,t know the area at all and it would be great short hop from Chi Harbour.
