I got home tonight to find February PBO on the mat. In December? Am I the only one to think how daft it is that they seem to publish these magazines earlier and earlier.

I've just been reading the February preview of things to see in the January Boatshow!!

Thought my calender had stopped.

Note the wording of the boatshow pieces. Nothing that even implies "we saw this at the show".

So far we've had: January - preview, February - Report,. Will we have March - thoughts from the show?

Re: PBO & YM deadlines

Over here we got YM inthe shops on Dec 28th. And found that to get an 'ad.' in the February (London Boat Show Issue) and 'avoid disappointment' the deadline was 12 noon GMT Wednesday 15th December. So I guess I'll have to been disapppointed (not that I've anything to 'ad' /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Yes, the silly thing about it is that, as they bring the publication date further back, it means that the magazine becomes more out of date. For instance, we won't see reports on Ellen Macarthur until the March/April editions. Reports on the horrors of the Tsanumi won't appear till March issue. Notices to Mariners will not be as up todate as possible. There's an advert in the latest (February) issue for a January sale!

I suspect that it's all part of a race to be on the shelves ahead of "Sailing Today". Crazy.

Its not really the February issue - its the December one. Ignore what it says on the masthead - even PBO cant time travel.

At some time in the past some FD has had the bright idea that if the issues are brought forward by a few weeks, you can get more issues into a year and more turnover . Thus achieveing otherwise impractical sales targets. Trouble is, it only works for one year / one month.

Does it really matter?
