He means 6 grand Euros, btw

You need remote. Else how can you retract it when you leave the boat? Remotes are cheap, they usually come standard and extra handsets are 75 euros

We got this last summer with auto stanchions for 6k cash. It's opacmare, becos that's the supported brand in SofF. If everyone has besenzoni where you are, get that, becuase more people about to fix it, which you'll need

Re: one more thing.....

it'll cost loads more if your boat doesn't already have a reinforced transom. Dunno about sealine but with fairline the reinf transom is a factory option. If you dont have it they have to gob fibreglass on, working uphill. Dont know the cost of this, we got the factory transom. Extent of job partly depends on how heavy your dinghy is, because the pass has to hold that fully extended

Dont buy a Whittall. The one on my boat is crap; a triumph of optimism over engineering. A remote control is worth having but makes a great toy for small people which is why mine only works intermittently

Re: cheapy option.

Wooden plank affair o is an option- needs attaching to the boat, not the quay.

Skintflinty budget sailboats like Oysters have sortof foldy-up metal job and a locating lug on the transom somewhere. You can buy these. Bit crappy though.

Twould be good to have 2 locating lugs, one for locating lug somewhere high (top of transom) and low (transom doorway, say) for both high concrete quays and low folating pontoons. At least the manual ones don't sodding go a bit mad or dodgy (qv lots of them). lashem up foward when not in use. Use deep-section wood or metal to avoid flexiness.

As jfm says DON'T gettem to fit hydrualic spensive ones if not reinforced, seen a few transoms flexing and crumbling with passarelle attachment falling into the transom.

If getting a hydraulic pasarelle, there's loads of models. Stainless best cos you can wallop it and still ok, so not painted. Opremare (?) seemed popular.

Otherwise a Besenzoni with extra lights in (loads of lights, not poxy six little weeny lights like mine) would be nice plus a bell and accompanying "Get Lost" sign.

Re: tcm

I did BUT i have no clue about whether this or that is good value on account of not buying PBO and having an accoutn at the chandlers which allows me to nip in, not look at the oprices, do a squiggle, and run out again without looking at the price too much.

Anyway, I would be a bit cautious of things called "Raymarine" as it is bit naff. Surely that's gonna be like having something called "Albertmarine" or "Gordonmarine" innit? Whereas a name like Rogermarine would have been better, or Hotwired better still. Sesquerra would also sounds quite slim and reasonable kit. Whereas we have a choice of duh Autohelm or Raymarine, sigh. Hence i bought Furuno.

We had the same passerelle dilemma with our S37 last year, wanted something better than a plank but unwilling to lay out the cash for a lovely SS hydraulic one which takes up a lot of bathing platform. Went in at the end for a folding 1.8 meter, pin at one end wheels at the other. With a suitable pulley it's easy to haul up and sits resting against the back rail (with a strap to hold it) Bought it from a local manufacturer in La Napoule for about £500 including fitting of the boss to the upper step on the S37 (other side to the main steps) I've used it for a year now with dozens of different height pontoons in the Med and it works fine.
(I dream about having a Berenzoni one with a remote control but 6K is hard to justify)
best of luck
David
