Can anyone in Cowes give more information on why Pascall Atkey's site has been down for some days...?

It's not a shop to visit for the cutting edge of technology.

Still a pleasure though, and a landmark when introducing newbie yotties to Cowes.

Wasn't it there they had a lovely dog who used to lay around outside, when he died he got an obituary in the sailing mags ?

Have they still got the parrot ?

These things are a lot more important than dayglo wellies and computerised sunglasses !

You haven't introduced any newbie yotties to Cowes for a while then? The old dog died about some years ago, there was a replacement but haven't seen him about for a while. Haven't seen the parrot for years. I think the german lady became unwell and it seems to be mostly another yotty clothes shop these days, with young lads working in there. Bought a Dubarry shirt in there last week, took it out to wear tonight and it still had the security tag on it! Windows full of dayglo wellies, well Dubarry boots anyway, and sunglasses with the full range of "Old Guys Rule" shirts and hats.

I knew the old dog went years ago and mentioned it; I introduced a new sailor to Cowes a couple of weeks ago, but as we were only in town on the Sunday we just passed Pascall Atkeys by.

I don't normally visit Cowes chandleries for my own bits & pieces, hopefully everything is sorted before I reach the land of souped up prices ! :)

If you need chandlery now, the best place is Joliffes up opposite the Eastern entrance to the Yacht Haven. Prices are reasonable and well stocked.
