I have a suzuki outboard, probably 15 to 20 years old,and am trying to source some parts, specifically the rubber damper that sits inside the prop-as it has torn away from its bronze centre.any tips would be gratefully received
many thanks in advance
Tom

i dont know if this will help you ,i have yanmar engine mounts that failed after getting wet, they tore away from the steel after rusting, the replacements were about 50.00 each and i got thinking how are they bonded in the first place ?.
i spoke to some of the leading manufacturers of engine mounts for cars who said they are bonded using a two pack cynoacrylate glue and put under pressure.
I purchased some industrial super glue in two part form ,1 in spray 1 in normal bottle.
i ground off the steel side and abbraded the rubber.
they sprayed the steel and put the glue liberallyon the rubber and immediatly put the bits together and clamped in a vice.
this was 3 years ago and 1500 hours running later and they are still good !
i would suggest it getting the metal part cleaned either by grit blasting or simmilar and then give it a go.

Any decent prop repair shop shd be able to re-bush the prop. Other parts, if still made(?) try international marine supplies :+44 (0)1427-617845 -
