Parking with bow thruster on 32ft long keeler

Neither does the laser once you learn to sheet in and out fast during the gybe. Prior to that it does get very embarrasing (and wet) at the gybe mark. Standard gybe routine doesn't seem to work on the laser.

This is clearly a situation where the OP was not a dinghy sailor in their earlier life because everyone knows dinghy sailors make much better cruising skippers. If only they'd learnt to sail in Mirror dinghy they'd have none of these problems. :p:p::p

Speaking as the OP, that is clearly the root of my problems, however I'm not an ex-naval officer either, so maybe they cancel each other out.
BTW, my next thread will be about fitting a bow thruster to my solo dinghy to help with landing when the wind is blowing onshore.

Nice one. is this a subtle comment?
