First season back at Conwy and first trip back down there.
Took my van as I had my tender in the back. There are parking restrictions at the Degenwy beach head so I unloaded on to the beach and nipped into the local car park ( paid for 3 hours) dashed back to my unguarded gear and took the stuff accross to the boat. Some problems on the boat but went back within the 3 hours to move the van to long term parking.
Found a yellow plastic thingy on my windscreen ( my first parking ticket) Small print on parking sign says no commercial vehicles or campers.
My SWB Transit van is converted to a multi purpose vehicle so that it may be used as a camper, a bus or with rear seats removed as transport for my disabled mother and her scooter.
It was in the latter mode that I was driving to get my tender in.
My vans footprint is no bigger than a large saloon car and I feel victimised, there is no parking for the vehicle that I have to drive anyway near the beach head, I have to leave my gear unattended while I walk 10 minutes to where I can park.
The council are happy to take my mooring fee.
This seems to be part of the councils anti camper campaign as it is almost impossible to park a camper in any of the local car parks. I can understand issues involving great big moterhomes and campers overnighting on car parks but this seems really petty.
As a footnote I had to park my van in a residential street and returned to find eggs thrown on the screen.
End of rant!!

If everyone voted with their feet and went elsewhere they might get the message. Conway has been getting too expensive under the influence of the marinas' charges and for a town that has tourism as its main source of income it doesn't exactly make life easy for visitors.
