Anyone know the dates of the Paris Boat Show next year? I'm trying to work out how I can con the Admiral into a romantic pre-Christmas trip to Paris!

There doesn't seem to be any info on the Salon Nautique website.

This year Dec 7th -15th
2018 8-16th
2017 2-10th

If this was some kind of interview question I'd guess 5th-13th for next year (I'll deduce that the rule is the saturday after the first friday in december until the sunday on the subsequent weekend, with2020 being a leap year), but puzzle obsessives or people who actually know the answer, please correct that :-)

Do people really plan their lives over a year in advance???

Paris is rather easier to get to by train (or boat and train) than Düsseldorf for those concerned about Greta looking over your shoulder, but a look on the deutsche bahn website shows that it is possible to get to Düsseldorf in 5 hours from St. Pancras for 80 euros one way if you can leave in the middle of the afternoon on a friday.

(shame on me I have already booked my flight from city to Düsseldorf the friday evening: I can't bunk of work on friday lunchtime without losing a day's pay)

If you use the Deutsche Bahn website in German, there's normally a London Spezial ticket for 79 Euros return to anywhere in Germany.

There's also a new Köln - Wien luxurious night train so could book that and then go romance at the Schönnbrun.

I'm on a fixed shift rota at work with leave periods set for the future indefinitely.

You plan on being in the same job in a year??? My usual planning-related phrase is "well let's see what the weather forecast looks like closer to the time..."

Can any of you imagine Humphrey Bogart saying "we'll always have Dusseldorf" to Ingrid Bergman? Anyone? :)

Fair point but wrt st599's previous point you can't deny the allure of a night train to Vienna...

I've been in the same job for 27 years and I can't see me changing any time soon. A night train to Vienna? We'll see :)
