I have a lead keel and when I had the boat hauled out for antifouling I found the paint on the kell had bubbled. When I washed it down a lot of the paint came off leaving bear lead. Its looks like the answer is to strip it and start from scratch.

Does anyone know of a really good primer with good adhesion to lead?

Many thanks

hihi
yes go to seajet web site....full list of antifouls n specialist primers....when i did mine last year brilliant results.

when i phoned them direct they were most helpful with advice...if u buy direct they will match any prices (obviously) that u can get on any site or disc. shop....and free postage.

their products are not cheap but....if you pay say £100 for a 8 mtr boat like me its only a sml proportion of you other cost like insurance....marina fees.....et al.

good luck

Why bother painting it? It doesn't need antifouling, since nothing will grow on it anyway. I have a lead keel, and in future am not going to bother to paint it.
