My point was that whetever you do when getting back to clean metal you need to get it washed, dusted off and primed as soon as possible.
I mentioned the thruster as we found corrosion and pitting under the paint, I should have made that clearer in hindsight.
If I was going to attempt the job myself (as opposed to a yard) I'd get it grit blasted and then divide up the areas into manageble areas.
Mark up using a contrasting spray paint and then sand off using 36 or 40 grit paper.
Dust off, clean, and wipe down with a wipe down solvent.
Then apply 545 epoxy primer.
Roll on and tip-off.
Then choose another area on the other side of the boat and repeat the process, and so on.
The next day you can do the areas you missed.
2nd and third coats are easy, you just have to wait a min of 12hrs or so between coats .
Flat back lightly if you want a great finish.
