I've just heard about one that's for sale privately. Any ideas what they're worth? Are they any good?

They seem to be highly regarded.

Half or less the new price, less if it requires work.

Excellent piece of kit (like most other wind steering brands, Hydrovane Monitor etc never heard anyone complain).
There are a few variants of the WP: smaller/larger model, pendulum only, pendulum+separate rudder, etc. check beforehand which is on sale and if it is ok for your boat.
During the past years I saw a few of them on sale for about 2000-2500e, they were gone in a matter of days.

We installed a WindPilot Pacific last year, and it has steered us some 1.5k miles. We use it pretty much exclusively while offshore, but then coastally usually steer with an electronic autopilot.

Very happy with the system.

I'm considering letting mine go.
Nothing wrong with it - not even 3 years since new.
Perfect working condition.
But if I am realistic (rapidly deteriorating health), an ocean crossing is not on the cards anytime soon - if ever.
And if I am cruising the Med for the rest of my days... with all their stern-to mooring it's inconvenient.
It might as well go to someone who will get more benefit out of it.

I saw your boat in the Odet last summer, so supposedly France? The usual leboncoin.fr , or the ads on hisse-et-oh.com . Also, www.stw.fr is basically dead as forum but ads for boats or equipment still have some followers, in particular long range cruisers..
