P46. Problem with TAMD 75 P-A. Chums boat.

Sorry I can't see it being a dirty connection on the ECU plug as these plugs had been apart many times before this and checked. I would have liked more testing with the ECUs swapped but if the fault moved to the port engine with the ECU then I still feel that the ECU is at fault. It may be that there is a dodgy joint where one of the data connection pins in the ECU socket meets the PCB. This may be temporarily fixed but I recon the fault will still be there. With an intermittent fault like this only after at least 10 more hours fault free use can you start to think the problem is solved.

Reference/ message to 'ol git'. I will get u to Cabrera, one way or another. Last resort we can rent some pedaloes or the 'starfish' tourist glass bottom boat for a beer and a couple of bottles for u no who!!!
Trust me!

No need to go to extremes,I can walk on water....just ask the wife....:).

Hi tom, more of less what I have referred to , bad communication between loom and Ecu. Had this on a 74 last year .
Have you chopped the two 8 pin plugs out as well?

yes plugs have been removed and hard wired.

Blimey guys! Really appreciate both yr feed back, but getting a bit confused (even more so.) When Paul is claiming that he has never experienced an ecu go down on these engines and Tom, ur suggesting buying a new ecu !!!
I could only assume from what my engineer (Paul W) and I had experienced, ie (9 hours running) following ur advise of swapping the ECUs back to original position, and that then the boat ran without fault, that in all probabilities, it might have been a connection disturbed, for the better. Tom, as u have witnessed the boat was pretty reliable in its 'shutting down' , whilst out at sea!
I guess without undertaking loads more hours at sea, I probably won't find out this season.
I'm back out this Sunday afternoon till Wednesday lunch. I don't suppose u will be anywhere near PP during that time, where I can bribe u sufficiently, just to have a quick look for me. As before, would greatly appreciate any help u can offer.
Graham M
Ps thanks Paul for ur input

Hi tom. No, Porto petro, hence the wording, ' if I can bribe you sufficiently'. I no its a pain, but I am happy/desperate to get a bit of piece if mind before I wrap the boat up for the winter. I really have tried most things, but would appreciate ur looking/ checking with the diagnostic machine to see if we can eliminate all possibilities. I'm at ur mercy, mate! G M

I don't think the Vodia is going to tell us much if it hasn't failed again. All you can do is keep using the boat. As I said before I'm sure the fault will reoccur as nothing has been fixed.
