Sorry I can't see it being a dirty connection on the ECU plug as these plugs had been apart many times before this and checked. I would have liked more testing with the ECUs swapped but if the fault moved to the port engine with the ECU then I still feel that the ECU is at fault. It may be that there is a dodgy joint where one of the data connection pins in the ECU socket meets the PCB. This may be temporarily fixed but I recon the fault will still be there. With an intermittent fault like this only after at least 10 more hours fault free use can you start to think the problem is solved.
