Hi All,

Could do with a pointer as to why my starboard leg keeps deciding to stop working.

First happened a few weeks ago when coming back in from a following sea I dropped the leg back down, got to 0 and decided to stop there, wouldn't go up or down. Then had an ignition fuse go on the flybridge, changed it and the leg started to work again so was well pleased.

the same happened again a couple of weeks later and I changed the fuse thinking that must be the source but this time no joy, the fuse hadn't gone. A few days later it decided to start working again.

now it has stopped again and I cant find anything obvious.

There is a good feed to the pump and the solanoid clicks in when the switch is operated but no movement.

Anyone else experienced this.

They are DP 290 drives

I had the same problem with a 290 and it was poor connections on the solenoid. It clicked but I guess there was too much resistance. I replace the connectors with new spade connectors and all has been fine since.

I know!
It was one of those occasions where what looked like an expensive problem had a low cost fix.
Hope it is the same for you.

I would agree with Jimg, after reading your post it does seem aparent it's a faulty wiring issue rather than mechanical. resistance/shorting on bad terminals also helps explain the problem of your blown fuses.

I'd have a very thorough check of the connections including the earth.

You can always run temporary feed's to test.

You can get the solenoids from the other engine to check of this is the problem..

Also the electro motor wil get stuck sometimes... Give it a little "tap" with a hammer when someone else is pressing the switch..
