Outboard overdose?

Used to see lots of boats like this in the police boat pound in Hong Kong Kowloonside.Though the boats were fitted out just for one trip, no frills at all.

What is the point, surely 2 or 3 big o/bs would be better with less drag?

Ah, but is there such a thing as a 1.000hp outboard?
another thing would be certain "corncerns" of the client. Like buying 8 250Hp outboard engines is maybe less conspicious then buying 2 1000Hp engines.
Didn't help here, as in this case the manufacturer of the boat was sentenced for aiding and abetting drug smugglers.

I think he (allegedly) did a runner but his Mrs has just been sentenced, something was in the news the other day.

Im surprised they have any room left for drugs.
Would have thought its just a floating (or flying) fuel tank!!
