Outboard killcord retrofit

My son is now getting to the age when he wants to use the tender on his own with the outboard engine. The engine is a superb Yamaha Malta (3hp -I think) of about 1999 vintage- but it only has a cut-off button -do any of the well informed and practical members on this forum know if it's possible to retrofit a kill cord to an outboard? The thought of him falling overboard with the engine still running, is not one I want to dwell on!!

they sell the kit on ebay fairly cheaply and the wiring is simple if you already have a kill button

It will need to be simple for me to do it- electrics and engines and me do not mix very well!! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
