Hi
Can I use any good quality motor gear oil in my Mariner 3.3 outboard gearbox or is there some special and extra expensive Mercury oil I must use ?
Thanks in advance for any advice and Merry Christmas ( If we are still allowed to use such an unPC expression !)

The main difference, is quicksilver type gear oil doesn't mix with water-EP 90 will.
It will turn to an emultion, and will break down in the event of water ingress. Quicksilver will carry on oiling, and help prevent internal rusting.
Choice is yours.
