As we all know outboards suffer from corrosion of its parts and screws etc. which is not helped by the damp conditions and heat from the motor causing condensation under the cowls.

So my question is :- what is the best method or product to help prevent corrosion/rusting of parts and screws.?? spraying WD40 or Duck oil, or what would you use or do??

It is a spray like WD40 but made by Boeing (originally) It really is superb at preventing rust. It is a white spray can with red writing, sometimes call Boeshield.

The best option is a product developed in the aviation industry, and tested on aircraft carriers ...Corrosion Block
Its had extensive testing on outboards in Hawaii.
WD removes water but leaves existing corrosion which holds moisture, this then continues to corrode, this stuff removes moisture but also changes the corrosion by product to prevent any further corrosion...Its good.

Use a high quality gun oil (spray type) . we use Browning gun oil on our guns and it is the best we have found in many years on a variety of firearms which, in case you don't know are extremely sensitive to rust and blemishes caused by dirt deposits, finger marks containing salt, and condensation caused by temperature variations. One of our guns has been cased for three years and is treated with this spray oil and shows not one speck of rust or blemishes.
