Hi all, wonder if you can help.
The tension spring on my old but otherwise well made Gibellato lifting outboard bracket has broken and I am trying to find a suitable replacement spring in stainless steel.
I have tried local outboard suppliers and even spring manufacturers but to no avail. (I even bought a replacement bracket but the quality is just not as good and I'd rather fix the old one).
The tension spring I need to replace has the following dimensions:
Length is 120mm unloaded
Length is 235mm loaded
Wire gauge is 3mm
Diameter of coil is 25mm
Gap between loop and body of coil is 7mm
Photo attached - each end has the same loop but you will see that one is broken off.
Any ideas of how to source a replacement? Thank you!

You need an extension spring and might well have to order a specially made one.

To try to get one spring made would not be economic as by far most of the cost is in setting up the spring making machine.

In saying that most spring manufactures have a stock of overruns and what I do is to search my local spring manufacturer overrun stock for the closest I can find.

Second Lee Springs
This looks like the one although minimum order is for 5 . Give them a call.
