Potential 'entrants' have requested a firm date for the Azores cruise. Well OK then.
I intend to leave the Blackwater mid May '05. Arrive Falmouth a week later. Leave Falmouth towards Horta the 1st of June '05.
Weather permitting,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Do people want to leave Falmouth all together as if it was a race, ie with a start line and a definite start time and date? Or start when they wish with the aim of finishing at Horta together?
Isn't life complicated,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,:)

I have a slight technical issue regarding GCSE's. I don't need any to sail to the Azores, at least I don't think I do, but Bill whom I was hoping would be able to sail the boat back (I won't have enough leave to do both ways) has a daughter who has to sit them and he is under domestic constraints to be around until she has done them. Therefore, for me, a later start is better.

Understood Andrew, fortunately the unorganised/ disorganised nature of the 'event' means that you start, arrive, and finish just when it suits you,,,,,,,,,,, :)
I posted my plans because I was asked to, it seems some folk like to be told dates and stuff. However if anyone wishes to start, say, in August, they are free to do so, and they stand a fare chance of getting a wave from me as we pass each other inbound/outbound!

Depart Falmouth 1st June

Sounds fine with me Ian. I believe Marian is emailing those who have shown an interest. For those who don't know about this trip visit the web site HERE

Hi Iain,

We might be able to come but don't know yet - finances etc . . . our lives aren't exactly planned right now.

Will it be OK just to turn up at Falmouth and join you if the opportunity presents itself?

(Vega 27, crew of 2)

- Nick

I have an "in" with the Met office, force 4, broad reach, both ways, have been ordered. Take a sun hat and plenty of factor 50 cream,,,,,,,,, :)
Patience is ashore for work at Mersea. Pop down for a visit this weekend if you can?

<<Pop down for a visit this weekend if you can?>> If the weather is any good I have an arrangement to go to Calais this weekend, after the traditional estuarial sand bank dodging. Can your contact in the Met office do anything for me?

>Can you tell me exactly what date you'll arrive <

Er,,,,,, No,
I can tell you that I hope to leave Falmouth on (Ha!) 1st of June and it will probably take me three weeks to get to the Azores,,,,, Some might start later and arrive sooner, others start sooner and arrive later. The prize giving for gaff rigged Vertues will be in the Jolly Sailor, Heybridge Basin, in early September.
If you thnk you might win a prize then bring it with you and I'll see if I can find someone to present it.
Keep in touch!

IanW :)
