Sorry about the false start earlier but I'll try again

Not in the same leaue as JFM's Squaddie, but we're very excited about getting our first new boat.

We placed the order at SIBS, and as she was a stock order the waiting time is relatively short - she's due out of the factory on the 12th - but a sign on the back says ''wrap by 7th''. Apparantley this is to ensure that production get finished in good time to ensure she leaves on time. Handover is due on the 29th.

We were at the factory today, and I have to say it was pleasing to see how busy they were, with all sizes of boat in production, but by far the predominance was with the SC35.

It's interesting to see the modular build adopted these days, with complete galleys, including appliances and taps assembled in a separate area, and then slotted into place. This is done with the heads as wll, and if you look at the picture of my dashboard you'll see that even the ignition keys are in place, but you'd have thought they'd have put the wheel on for me.

You might find that the steering wheel goes on last. It then signifies that the last person to work on the boat has checked that everything is finished and ready to wrap, then puts the wheel on. Thus a boat without a wheel isent finished. Thats what I would do if I did boat manufacturing. Anyway ENJOY

Wow, you must have had a good day, where are the engine room shots? bev and I hope to be one of the first to see her, all I hear lately is "hardtop sports cruiser"..............

Still working on that v48!

Looks fantastic, you must be really chuffed. I really think that the new Sealines are excellent, beautiful to look at, and the way the space and light is used shows just how far boat design has evolved. We will be looking out for her as we motor down the Hamble.
Do you have a name yet and where will she be berthed?

Yes saw your post, that V48 in the CI looks a cracking buy, if I hadn't been down sizing it may have been a race across the Channel to get it.

You know you and Bev are more than welcome to come and poke around the new boat anytime, we get her on the 29th and all being well she'll be on the mooring on the 30th. Obviously if the weathers good we'll want to take her out on the Saturday.

See you later

Yes we have a name, I've photoshopped it onto another boat, to give an idea of what it will look like

We will be mooring at Swanwick where we kept our last boat

So what options. Please tell all! Anyway, very exciting!

As a stock boat we didn't have a lot of opportunity to specify many extras, but to be honest she has most of the extras we would want, or in fact could afford.

She has a pair of 260 D4's which seem to be the engine of choice, and everyone I spoke to said why pay an extra £10k for another 2 knots.

Apart from the standard Sealine spec she has:

Bowthruster, teak cockpit and teak table, holding tank, quiteflush freshwater loo, cockpit fridge & BBQ, Movida Sand cockpit upholstery, forward sunpad cushions, TV/DVD package.

Haven't gone for any factory fit nav gear, basically because I'm a tight Yorkshireman, and I simply think they charge too much, so when I take delivery I will be fitting a Garmin 6012 plotter, and Garmin 300 VHF with AIS. I really did want to get the Garmin autopilot as well but that's going to have to wait till the bank balance has made something of a recovery

We could have had heating fitted, but as we have a preference for Webasto, and they only fit Eberspacher, we took a discount, and the heating is being fitted when she gets to the Hamble.

Congratulations, great choice of vessel. I think the name is inspired, especially for the SC35. Personnellement ... j'approuve!

Thanks Moody for those pics. Lovely job. I replied on the other thread - nice interior. Marmite was a name suggested by the general committee of friends who were giving me suggestions for my boat's name. Mainly becuase it is my favourite food (I have it with everything, especially croissants for breakfast when in France, which the French think is weird)). I didn't choose it in the end but glad to see you did!

Good luck with the delivery and handover etc

One tyech question: is the roof structure white or black? In some pics of SC35 it is black. Is that a customer preference item, ie you have chosen white?

Dash looks very nice. Vertical plotter screen - as it should be. I like the new volvo throttle box, in a gadgety kind of way

You can see the influence of the auto industry on the build process. Steve Coltate was ex Jaguar and Land Rover, and Steve learnt a lot about quality improvements from Ford. Try to minimise the part number count on the final assembly line, and test sub systems before they go into the final assemby, where they are cheaper to rectify. Also, reduce the cost of parts by minimising the inventory.

I think Sealines are being really imaginative with their styling and packaging, and now offer a real alternative to SunPrinFair, albeit you will maybe get more bespoking from these 3, at increased costs. Sunseeker are also importing ex car people, and you will see the influence on quality and right first time.

I hope she works out really well fro you Mr Moody.

Yes sorry about the other thread, bit of a misfire on my part.

I too like the interior but can't claim any credit as there is no choice, it's Walnut veneer or er Walnut veneer.

We're a bit premature in disclosing the name as we're still waiting for permission from Unilever to use their trademark, but hopefully they wont have a problem with it. I think that Marmite is a perfect choice for this boat as it seems to evoke similar reactions to the taste of Marmite. The name was SWMBO's choice as, like you, she loves it, as she does this boat (I can't stand the stuff). The fallback name is ten, as during the process she kept asking me ''on a scale of one to ten how excited are you'' and somewhere between the sea trial and the champagne I said ten.

Some of the roof structures you will have seen are brown, which is a factory option (about £3.5k). This was my first choice but with this boat already in build we had no choice. That said I think I now prefer white, but I would say that.

I am pleased that we've got the new EVC-D controls, but I didn't even know about them till SIBS (seems to have been a soft launch on Volvo's part), They do feel very nice to the hand, but disappointingly it doesn't come with any of the gadgety bits programmed, and you have to Volvo to upgrade the software for the bits you want.

FWIW I thought the white structures looked even better than the dark brown - I hadn't seen one with these in white before.
