Re: A biased overview
Thanks all, interesting information.
Thanks all, interesting information.
South Dock now £51 a night, ouch!
Weekly rate at St. Kats = £310 for a 10m boat
Limehouse .
Not anywhere now so cheap as some like to pretend.
Possibly some attractions for the Frey Bentos cuisine sorts with short arms an deep pockets.Gandalfs pub nearbye. Not much for anyone else except a few eateries on the fume filled A12 nearbye. Only real method of escape from this semi industral area is the DLR.
+1! It's far closer to transport (DLR) than St Katz is to Tower Hill, you don't hear the road OR the DLR even on the Visitors pontoon. Walking distance to Canary Wharf. Tesco Express across the A13
I like your salty prose, but I don't agree with you about Limey.
So, here's another view!
The Grapes is a great pub.
Food in the Narrow is decent, but yeah expensive, the views are great.
La Verde restaurant/ cafe is highly recommended.
The nearby jazz club has a fantastic atmosphere, if that's your thing.
You can run/ walk/ kayak or cycle for traffic free mile after mile along the canals, if that's your thing.
Mile stadium, with superb public running track, is a five minute jog along the canal.
Vikki Park is delightful, and a leisurely 30 minute stroll away.
Two stops into Bank or Tower Gateway on the DLR.
I'll take Limey over St Kats any day, thanks.
Oh yes it does. Out through SE corner past the hotel and turn N up the road, just a few yards along......................Must admit St Kats do not boast a TESCO EXPRESS, we will just have to make do with the rather fine wine section in the nearbye Waitrose.![]()

Not sure when you were in St Kats................but.
10 mins walk gets you into Wapping High St. and its many pubs.
A 5 mins walk gets you to Tower Bridge underground, less if moored in West Dock,The Tower of London and Tower Bridge
5 mins more gets you across the bridge and either
East into Shad Thames / Butlers Wharf, more pubs and resturants than you can shake stick at.
or
West and enjoy the walk along past City Hall,The Belfast, Hays Wharf, The Golden Hind, Shakespears Globe, The Tate Modern and beyond to the Eye and the Aquarium.Nearly forgot the Wobbly Bridge.
Always a few buskers around.to keep the kids amused with fire juggling or bubble antics
