Our daughters just bought a boat; should I be worried.

She’s a late model Pandora 700. The only history I can find is that she was registered on the Broads in 2015. I’m collecting her tomorrow and I’ll post some pictures as soon as I can.
We had one of these around that time at the Broads charity where I work. It went because it proved difficult for those with mobility problems to get aboard and sail. I loved it and was sad to see it go.
Wouldn't it be funny if it was the same one !

I have a certain resentment about Pandoras. There were several in the BJRC races we used to do in the '70s. With the usual downwind starts these little boats would still be with us at the leeward mark after a spinnaker run. We could pull away from them coming home, but by then the tide had turned and they wouldn't be far behind on time. Troublesome little beasts.

Is this boating thing hereditary? Our twenty something old daughter has only just gone and bought a boat at auction. It's a little Pandora 700 and I went to see it for her the other day. On a fairly decent trailer with an Evenrude 7.5 but sans propellor. The sails are slightly not new but very servicable and it';s got an 'A' frame built onto the foredeck for raising and lowering the Mast. She's just paid and we're going to collect it on Friday. I've promised she can use our spare mooring at Saltash if she wants. For a new boat present, we can't decide whether to buy her a new propellor (not much use if the engine doesn't't work and is scrap) or an Admiralty small chart folio of the West Country etc?

Is there any cure. Is there any hope.

What's worse is that she's also started quoting bits of YBW on Pandora's to me.
It is hereditary in our family, my grandfather had the problem , and I have some of his logs from a shared cutter on the blackwater in the 1916s, he worked in the ballbearing factory in Chelmsford. My nephew has it as well, studied at Soton marine college and is in the boating fitting supply business. No one else affected, but no known cure.I have been sailing since the scouts in the 50s, just sold our last boat due to old age infirmity. I put the problem down to a faulty gene which results in one being financially disabled for the rest of your life.

This one is currently called Nesbit E
but she’s about to get a name change, probably to Eowyn.

I agree that NV charts are great, I can show you some time when you bring the Pandora down. You also get a free download of the electronic chart to work on a tablet and phone so plotter and charts in one. Make sure the prop is a saildrive version! You know you will get both!!!!

First job is get the outboard into the workshop and see if it runs. Then some new washboards from some nice Robbins Elite Teak faced ply I happen to have lying around. (Very convenient for daughter)

She’s arriving later and she can sort out the cleaning and tidying up and polishing. (That’ll keep her busy for a few days...)

Pretty distinctive name and numbering.

I wonder if the propellor was removed by the previous owner before the boat ended up at auction ( for whatever reason) and is actually sitting safely, polished and traceable in someone’s shed??

That might be a result eh?

It would be a result but I’m not holding my breath. There are signs the boat was broken into at some stage and it has all the hallmarks of an estate sale. (Even the previous owners foulies were left lying around on board. )
