Hello every one, A few days ago there was a thread about Origo stoves, and i related my experience with ordering one and how it got sent back due to improper paper work. Well, i thought i would try again, despite the price going up by £30. I put in my order on Tuesday 8th of February. To my surprise and delight the cooker was delivered today by DHL. It has only taken 3 days. I am so pleased and hope that any one else who wants an Origo, to have the same success. ( unfortunately i had to pay tax, but still happy ) Best regards, Oz.

Take no notice of them Oz!

I ripped out a gas installation on my boat and installed (initially with some misgivings) an Origo and it has been fine.

If it takes a little longer to boil the kettle, so what!

While it's boiling you can get out the best china and lay out the Abernethy biscuits, and the anchovy toast.

:D

I like this thread. So civilized.

Let me recommend storing the spirits in 1 liter metal fuel bottles (no spills), and a stove top heater like this (courtesy of Good Old Boat Magazine). I have one.

I know people love these things but I wonder how many have had to refill them in a real blow?
Justin loves his but when I watch this I'm happy to stay with gas.

I use 50cl plastic sports bottles. They don't pour, you need to gently squeeze them into the Origo fuel container. No leaks, no spills.
Admittedly you need to spend a little time filling them (5 litre containers through a mini funnel).
You could of coarse use 1 litre bottles, the type carried on bikes, if you are doing a big cook.

The alcohol I buy, in France, comes packaged in 1-litre plastic bottles which have a small hole in the inner cap. Even if you drop it, very little will be lost before you pick it up again.

In my Twister I refill the Origo canisters in the cockpit whilst I am leaning over the companion way step.

If severe weather is anticipated, one preparation would be to top up the Origo canisters before it arrives.

Hello every one again, apologies for the late reply, but iv'e been waiting for the kettle to boil! ( joke, of course! ). Rowlock, the company is compass 24, and if you address your email info@compass24.com and for the attention of Jorg Belling, you will find him really helpful. It sometimes takes a day for a reply. Also as i said in a previous thread, the first time my partner Sue ordered the cooker, DHL returned it to compass because of incorrect forms, but this turned out to be a mistake on their part of DHL. The cooker is item 208150 and described as spirit cooker 3000 2-flame. They also stock the single stove at £136, i think. Good luck rowlock. I enjoy reading all threads and responses to them. I think you are all a great bunch of guys. Best regards, Oz.

You still have to pour it. What advantage does your fuel bottle bring exactly?

Really? It is not obvious that although pouring from a 1-gallon can is awkward and is what stories of spilling come from, pouring from a purpose-designed fuel bottle spout, into a 2-inch opening, is dead easy even if very rough. My boat is 24 feet and I'm pretty sure of this. Do it in the sink. If conditions are too rough for this, you have no business heating anything on a stove, propane or otherwise.

The more people that order, they will get in practice on the paperwork and shipping. I bet the next one goes off without a hitch.
