I'm ordering a new set of sails: a new headsail and main. My main cruising ground is the scheld estuary and an occasional Channel crossing.

I have on the list:
Main
Loose foot
leach line
2 reefs
top batten all the way to the mast

Head
bronze hanks
leach line

anything else?

If your sticking with dacron, think about an impregnated type (Polypreg etc) rather than just plain old cruiser. A sailmaker once told me "spend as much as you can on the cloth, that's the important bit"... he wasn't selling me anything at the time...

Do a search on PBO - I did a spec your sail thread for gernoa and main.
Search on each individually as I put up one thread for each
This was about a month ago. Some very good replies and not too much fred drift.

light reflective strips ?

and I think you can get a radar reflector panel too, though the link escapes me at present.

horizontal lines (about 1") to enable you to alter the draft efficiently

[/ QUOTE ] Or specify marblehead - it is much more densely woven and contains less resin - that means it keeps its shape better when it gets older. Cheaper cruising dacrons contain a lot of resin and can become shapeless once most of it is knocked out of them.
