Only for the ladies!

Last year in Sami I moored next to a lady who was aiming to be the first Turkish women to sail across the Atlantic single handed, does anyone know how she got on?

The Turkish lady attempting to singlehand the Atlantic was our good friend Dilek on Symina. She was raising money to put underprivileged girls through education in Turkey where women are still second class citizens. An amazing woman. Unfortunately Symina was lost in January in big seas when her steering failed some distance from the Cape Verdes. Dilek was picked up by a ship and taken on to Rotterdam. She is now back in Turkey taking flak for attempting the voyage rather than staying at home.

She is sad but at least she is safe. She is a very determined lady though and I'm sure we haven't heard the last of her.
