Onboard mains battery charger giving 15.8v Repair or replace?

I guess it depends on the charger model. My model would remember if it was last used in Recond mode, and automatically select it when plugged in again.

That's probably true because the Ctek is designed to resume with the cycle that it was previously on after a power outage. This is one of its big advantages over many other makes of smart charger. When you disconnect the Ctek after charging a battery you are not supposed to just pull out the plug. You're supposed to switch it off with the mode button so that the next time you use it you can select whatever program is then required (normal / low temp / recond / cont. power.) :)

Just as a point of information, I've seen multi-phase battery chargers which work perfectly, but confuse people by having 15 or more volts on the output when no battery is connected.....
