Nice. I wish there were some a bit later as I was tought to sail on the Broads in the early 60's.

And I learnt to row there in about 1959 - we hired a motor boat much like the one on the left of the first photo, with a solid wooden dinghy!

Many thanks for posting the link. Made my day seeing the Broads as I remember them.
Spent my childhood in E. Dereham & visited the Broads most weekends.

Fantastic. I had a family holiday in a cruiser just like those shown in the 1960's section. I remember it did not come with a dinghy and I pleaded with my dad to hire one as an extra. I spent the whole holiday in that dinghy, exploring all the shallow bits. Absolutely loved it.

Broads sailors are the most subtle sailors I have ever seen. They squeeze every inch out of every tack. To see a good Broads sailor in action is a wonderful thing to behold

The first sailing I ever did was on the broads in my Grandfather's River Cruiser class yacht, 'Pirate'
Here's a more recent photograph of her. When I was aboard her - more than 50 years ago - she had tan sails and no topsail. Auxiliary power was a long pole known as a quant.
