\'Old\' LRP petrol usage?

Is it possible to use 'old' LRP petrol by adding to a diesel car's tank? in small quantities of course. Say half or 1 litre to a full tank of 50 litres of diesel.

From my hazey memory I recall tales, that diesel fuel storage tanks used by the large petroleum companies etc, were often 'contaminated' with petrol. Hence my question.

BTW. I have found info on the web that rules out usage in modern unleaded car engines (especially with catalyzers).

As the end of the season approaches and the boat is laid up, I was wondering what I could do with the LRP left, approx. 10 to 20 litres?

I know you have to dispose of it responsibly, but I was hoping of using it somehow.

What do you do?

I believe the fuel goes off, and eventually goes sticky thus clogging up carbs & injectors - allegedly. So I do not want to take the risk.
Unless this does not happen to LRP, don't know - never used the stuff before!

Leave it in the boat and top up with fresh petrol in the spring, always works for me.

Agreed.

Never had any problems. Cars are often left for months on end with petrol in their tanks. I believe the real problem is with petrol/alcohol mixes.

Leaving petrol in a tank for extended periods is fine, when it's time to use it, just top up with a bit of fresh petrol, the problem arises when it is a two stroke mix, so the myth say's! just make sure you give the tank a good shake up to re-mix the oil and add fresh petrol/oil mix, had seven years with same boat and engine same practice no problems.
