I recently got a part for my 1988 Lewmar 30ST from Yachparts in Plymouth. Make sure they know it's an old one as some of the parts are not the same as on modern winches having the same model name.

Not sure what part you are after but I was quite surprised to find a number of Lewmar Winch spares at the Chandlery in Cowes. You could be lucky. (The Chandlery at the top of the hill as you go past Sainsburys on the left.)

Your shards of plastic were probably GRP Lewmar early self tailers were GRP top and lower crown . You will need the part no. it is all online somewhere mostly on usa sites the dealers there are more forthcoming with information and detailed drawings . The early self tailers were identified mainly by the number type and arrangement of allen bolts on the top . I suggest you post a photo showing the top view .

I have been looking for the part (lew15000375) online and can only find suppliers in the US who stock it.

has anyone had any success ordering chandlery items from the states to the UK?

many thanks.
