Just spent a week checking electrics. Replaced magnetic switch/solenoid, which worked then didn't, then the keyswitch, which didn't help. Last week armed with multimeter checking continuity & resistance, got to last thing on Friday when I noticed starter feed went by switch on the Hurth gearboxes, such that if not in neutral no power to solenoids/starter. (The gearbox was in neutral, as in when started the props don't turn, but 1/4" to the rear and the switch worked). Yesterday all fine except when starting the dashboard alarm kept sounding. Checked sensors etc, but after an afternoon of fun realised the alarm wasn't on the dashboard, it was the exhaust alarm with the electrical feed taken off. The alarm was so loud I couldn't tell the alarm wasn't at the dashboard. I wonder what can go wrong next. Old boats etc.....

It's too long a list to post on here Ian o_O

Then the wiring gets renewed and the old wiring is left in place just to send you down a dead end path checking for faults.
Still trying to find where the GSM antenna is routed and connected to, and if I could re-use it for the 4G wifi router

At least the engines are so old that they don't have any bells or whistles to them 🤣
The only whistle they have is the two turbos :D

Preparing for the mast to be removed I prepared the connections and found my VHF aerial was connected to the TV and the aerial cable from the VHF radio was coiled up above the Roof lining in the Saloon and not connected to anything.

Not surprising the TV reception was rubbish but the VHF reception was actually fairly good, I was almost nervous of connecting it up properly!

I shouldn't have worried, now I get good reception from Dover Coast Guard whilst half way to Holland.
