I'm looking for some alloy stanchion bases and a couple of fairleads.
I'm wondering if there is a "boat junk shop" type place where I might this kind of thing.
In the ideal world somewhere on the east coast would be nice rather than the long trip to the Solent but I would travel if I had to.
Any thoughts / recommendations pls.

You could try Faversham. I was there recently and there was an old warehouse on the quay selling junk that included some pre-loved chandlery. I didn't have time to look at anything in detail before The Old Guvnor dragged me away kicking and screaming.

Dauntless Boatyard, Canvey Island. Paid them a visit last year, and managed to blow a few hundred on stuff I might need, managed to pick up some stanchion bases, which I did need, for the grand sum of a tenner each though. Has a website (sort of) phone numbers are on it. Worth a ring.

Here's some info on Roy's place I mentioned earlier from another forum: "A little known gem of a 2nd hand shop at Oulton Broad I have discovered.....Boat Bits & Pieces, South Elham Terrace, Oulton Broad. The owner is Roy and one of the nicest guys I have ever met, and the stock he holds is incredible, open 7 days a week as well :D . It's a real Alladins Cave of goodies...well worth a visit!"

Is the Chandlery Barge worth a visit? Is it really an Aladdins cave of old bits?

It's certainly an Aladdin's cave of bits, but just cos they're old and piled up higgledy piggledy doesn't mean they'll be cheap. I would say it's a valuable resource if you're restoring an old classic and need a particular gunmetal fitting last manufactured in 1932, but if you're refitting a modernish boat on a budget then eBay and the ForSale forum is probably a better bet.

Been there, done that. Quite a lot of stuff in there is more expensive than newly fabricated, original spec parts from Davy and co.

To the op, do call Davey. They made a lot of original fittings for many, many boats.

I've just had a look at the Davey link. Fascinating stuff and a traditional firm that has been manufacturing for 120 yrs. Their catalogue did not have any prices so I assume they're not cheap. Lovely stuff though.
