OK is it is the first 'Happy Day', what are the first things that you do?

I am intrigued as to who recommends this?

STANDING RIGGING
❒ All stays should be checked for broken strands or corrosion, particularly at end swages. If any stays are badly kinked, replacement should be considered.
Stainless steel is prone to fatigue, and in a trailer boat it is not uncommon to get kinks in the stays while rigging or de- rigging. This further fatigues the wire, and even though the stays are oversize, it is strongly recommended that all stays be replaced after 3 to 5 years.

if you did all that b4 you took it out a significant part of the spring summer is gone
sort the engine / fuel system, anchor
order new tramps, are they safe to walk on
AF it
use the engine to take it out, have a sandwich / drink and chill out
then plan which days you'll do the same and which days you fix some more of it
We sail year round here and, with a trailerable vessel, one can sail basically through the 'hurrican season'.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it, Rum.

Yes, counsels of perfection might suggest you open the wallet and buy all the kit ASAP, but I reckon you need a season's sailing with the structural and safety stuff checked/replaced as necessary, and then get to know what you need, what you really really need.

Next winter or hurricane season you can then do a logical buying spree, followed by a logical maintenance project. Rushing and installing everything at the start is almost certain to mean that you will have to take out kit you have had expensively installed.

Pace yourself :) What about a fridge ?

If you have a good rigger, they will be able to say whether the standing rigging genuinely needs replacing straightaway, or can give you another year or two.

I'd also take hundreds of pictures before you rip anything out. Come to that, post a couple of the new boat for us to ogle.

Pretty fast. DOUSED IN THE COCKPIT? Deflector solution for Farrier's Corsair F-27 trimaran - Bing video
Good comments. ?

Fridge? Probably use a cooler with bags of ice.

Rigging ? Just checked documentation - It definitely has not been replaced since 2003. Second to last voyage (2015) was Miami to St.Kitts.

The Main is trashed (very obvious) and needs replacement.

Pictures is a great idea.

Deflecter ? This is the Caribbean.
Well maybe the inconvenience of being doused occasionally.
However the daily average temperature ranges from around 25 degrees Celsius (77 °F) in January and February, which are the coolest months, to 28 °C (82 °F) between June and October.

If it has been shut up for 5 years - exactly what did the survey say (which you paid for) that prompted you to buy this yacht?

Jonathan
Survey ? What survey?

Closest qualified marine surveyor is in SXM. Would cost more than the boat is worth. ?
There is one in the BVI about 150 miles away.

R.P you said in your opening that the survey was done and cash paid....?
The debugging for cock roaches would be high on my list.
Have you sailed a trimaran before? its a new learning curve in tacking etc.
Do your hulls fold - to reduce beam in a marina for instance.
Should be an interesting first sail!!

Another triumph of optimism over experience? May she bring you all the joy and half the bills you expect!

However, I think job 0 has to be to check the trailer tyres, brakes and bearings. If they've been sitting in tropical sun for five years, I wouldn't trust any of 'em

A walk by survey was done. ?

Never sailed a trimaran but have sailed a first rule 12 meter, a 40’0” spronk designed catamaran, and a couple of other mono hulls.
Appreciate that several training and learning sails will be required to familiarize myself with the sailing and maneuvering abilities on the trimaran.
Yes the outer hulls fold in for marina berthing and also trailering.

First sail will be done in relatively light winds ?
