Seems a dit daft to me, Vic. What's the point in petitioning the UK parliament about something over which they have zero discretion or control?
I hear what you're saying. If the intention of the petition is what you say it is then, of course, it's within the power of the UK government and is very reasonable. The wording in the link is, however, poor IMHO.HMRC now want to charge vat a second time for them who brough their boat in the EU
while the UK was part of the EU ,
whats worst some of boat are vat paid in the UK .
People want to moan and gone and expect things to fall into their lap .
So here a chance to at less do something about it.
For yourself it makes no different so I can see why you think it daft .
Personally I got no intention in bring my boat back, but who know what the further hold .
I think Vic is making a very good point. Double taxation in any form is clearly unfair which is one of the reasons why so many countries avoid it in respect of personal taxation by implementing appropriate agreements with other countries.A petition to reassert our personal sovereignty, freedoms and right to roam a.k.a. "rejoin the single market and customs union" might stand a better chance. After all it is not just a few boat owners who are being penalised and/or victimised.
Well unless people made an effort we never know .I suspect like the 90/180 day thing since it only affects an even smaller number of people there's no mileage for the government in 'wasting' their time on it
Sorry but I don't think you have any idea how big the problem is and how many it effects one way or another .A petition to reassert our personal sovereignty, freedoms and right to roam a.k.a. "rejoin the single market and customs union" might stand a better chance. After all it is not just a few boat owners who are being penalised and/or victimised.
When these petitions are proposed are there boxes to tick to propose AGAINST the petition or do we have to go to the hassle of writing to our MP. That seems unfair to me, compared to how easy it is to vote FOR the petition when there are those of us who might justifiably object.A petition to reassert our personal sovereignty, freedoms and right to roam a.k.a. "rejoin the single market and customs union" might stand a better chance. After all it is not just a few boat owners who are being penalised and/or victimised.
