The bit of black on my oilies that would be visible if I went splash will also be covered by my LJ which, if I've gone splash, will be bright yellow, so I favour a colour that shows the stains of years of sailing the least. I can't imagine a circumstance when I'd have oilies on when I wouldn't be wearing an LJ - going to the pub on a soggy evening excepted, of course

The reflective strips are the bits that get you seen, not the colour. If your oilies have years of stains then you need to wash them to refresh the waterproofing, especially if they are Goretex.

Really needs to think about gentlemen of a certain age who need to pee frequently and yes I do wear bright yellow Musto MPX as it is far more visible from the air.

One answer is, rather oddly, a drysuit. It’s actually much easier to unzip and pee out of than undoing the lifejacket, then the jacket, then undoing the salopettes… and then reversing the process.

I had thought about looking at a drysuit, but have got quite well practiced at unzipping my top and salopettes without getting out of my LJ, it could be much, much simpler if a fly was inserted in the salopettes - my Mountain Equipment kit has a fully waterproof fly why not my sailing gear!

They have managed to insert a fly zip in my wet suit, so I agree with your comment. The zip is quite short but ... errr
