Following last Fridays oil splil I have not got a poka dot hull. I have managed to remove the oil but it has stained the gelcoat. I have tried cleaning with cif and then FSR (oxalic acid )but patches remain.
Any ideas haw to remove this.
ABP (Ipswich) think they know who is responsible but will only deal with claims from insurance companies .

I'm not a lawyer but that doesnt sound right to me. If you have a legitimate claim against some one they surely cannot dictate who processes your claim.
Can't help on the cleaning I'm afraid.

try wiping with a rag dampened with acetone. this may well shift itbest to wipe over with acetone, and then while still damp, wipe off with another cloth. - has worked on other oil stains so dont see why it wouldnt work here.

when we had an oil spill in Portsmouth a few years ago, the Navy provided all the boat yards with an oil remover, it worked well. Suggest you try the harbourmaster.

When there was an oil spill in Falmouth a year ago connected with bunkering, the bunkering co immediately contacted all concerned and arranged cleanups at local boatyards, paying for slipping, hoists etc. Being near the end of the season some people stayed out for the winter after the hoist!
