oil pressure switch, rip off or cheap chineese rubbish ?

Ok if you have plenty of spare time, otherwise you can easily spend more than you will save, I have never yet owned a boat that I can't afford to look after properly and don't intend to, this is why it's very important to have proper survey & mechanical servey done when buying a boat

Things can go wrong at any time through ownership, not just at point of purchase. Survey therefore irrelevant in relation to this problem.
If a part is being replaced with an identical one I fail to see why that would not be looking after the boat.
Perhaps some people have more money than sense, yep by all means pay 5x more than you need to because of the box or bag it comes in. The power of branding eh. One born every minute

But this isn't about using an identical part, it's about making something else fit, personally for £90 i wouldn't even bother looking at alternative

I replaced oil and temp senders and gauges with sets sourced on ebay, sender and gauge about £20 a few years ago.
Bought sets as easier than matching temp / pressure resistance values.
This was on AD41s
They worked fine but then there was no integration with ecu on these engines so the consequences of component failure of the gauge or sender was inconsequential.

Just done some research and before you go cutting any plugs off and fitting a pressure switch as shown above, the VP switch provides a signal to the ecu for oil pressure gauge and warning light so confirms that it’s more than just a switch.
If this is the kind of repairs that are done then no wonder people are complaining about the reliability of electronic engines
The OP described this as a 'Switch' not a Sender, Sensor nor Transducer. He has not mentioned what engine.

Hence the advice I have provided. He has not described what engine, and earlier VP had both an oil pressure sender for the gauge and switch for the alarm.

Therefore I stand by my advice. If the OP has mis-described what he requires then this is a matter for him. If he does in fact require some form of transducer then (unusually) the price of £90 for a VP part seems perfectly reasonable - that would be a first !

KAD44 EDC

It’s one of the two oil ‘pressure’ sensor, the KAD has 2.
The ‘item’ needs to be present and plugged in b4 the engine will go into start mode
So i guess it has a contact to show that it is present, even before the engine has started, at which time there cant be any pressure yet, thus it switches

I wrongly worked out after ecu was mentioned that it was D series as that sender was priced at just under £90 and the others for the Kad were £70 & £110

No connection between oil pressure and the EDC system on a Kad 44 or 300 .

Gauges and warning system are separate loom to dash , EDC had its own dedicated loom .
D series has oil pressure integration.

Thanks for confirming, based on the cost in question that’s what matched that of the D series
