Oil filled rads 750w

Don't expect it to last more than one winter, mind.

You are of course right, buy cheap, buy twice, that's what was said about my rechargeable drill (Aldi), 6 years and it's still going.

People seem to be under the misapprehension that a high price and a name equals quality, in the global market this is becoming less and less true, if you delve into a lot of top brands you will find that you are paying for marketing, advertising and recognition rather than the production.

As a for instance look at Dimplex convector heaters and Homebase own brand, they are identical cept for the name and price. (£35.95v£16.95).

But if you have money to burn...

has anyone seen a rad with a tilt switch ? It might be a bit dodgy if the heater element ended up higher than the thermostat ?

Shouldn't there be a disclaimer hereabouts, something about being the tightest man on the planet?

No --- yer Man previously 'colmce' is not in the running for that Title.
Me and hlb will tilt that Lance.
I got an oiled fired thinghie keeping me boat warm and toasty.
Argos £11.99 quite a few years back!

Anyway
Leaving lecktrickery warmers on boats is a debatable subject which gets debated on ere quite often.

I,m lucky
Boat is 3 miles away
I have an oiled thinghy and a leccy fan thinghie.
So I can check regularly.
Kinnel, it's cosier than me house at the Mo!

The fan gadgett is set on the lowest possible.
Yep, I have heard. peeps say fluff and stuff will set fire to yer boat in due course.
Thing has functioned since 2001.

Oily heater is switched off and stored if a Blow is immanent.
Like today

But me fan is still blowing.
Cos its kinda flat and wont tip etc.

No, just sore about having to chuck out an otherwise perfectly good one-year-old rad because oil was leaking from it.

Unlucky, perhaps. I am all for power of competition to drive down prices. But I wonder sometimes whether it also reduces choice (driving standards down to the minimum capable of meeting EC standards)?
