Odd liveaboard!!

How bizarre :)

Did you spot the "captain's hat" in one of the photos?

Can't imagine anyone paying anything like 27 grand for it though. Try a tenth of that!

before I bought a sailboat I was going buy one of these andconvert it. it works out cheaper to just buy a fitted out boat. unless you can do everything yourself (everything).

decent condition one with 40hp thorneycroft is about 4-5k. this one was once called 'murdoch' maybe it still is.

It is also showing as 'used'.......is that 'used as a lifeboat once' or 'used because it is not brand new'? At least you would know it had worked.....once

at least once a month whilst in service it would have been put into the water, whilst at least once a year it would have been 'dropped'. Neither experience is fun....

Yeah, but not 20k to do what thats got! A few bulkheads, galley, heads. They ran out of things to put, so mentioned logburner and tv.....woopy doo.I think a sub is more practical than that.

Someone brought a lifeboat to our yard a couple of years ago - an enclosed one but not a free-fall. The yard boss told me the owner planned to refurbish it as a "pleasure boat". Haven't seen any work done whatsoever though, so he must have thought better of it before he even started. Presumably he's still paying the fees for it to sit there...

I emailed the guy who did the conversion... about 5k and a lot of time iirc.

I'm sure I've seen that before, or another one the same also converted & on ebay. Whatever works for for whoever's living on it but can't imagine anyone being daft enough to throw £27k at it...

These people have very seldom had anything to do with boats of the sea.

That's true - the guy with the decrepit blue trawler on the Itchen, that he poured years of effort and no doubt plenty of cash into, bought it on eBay on a whim knowing nothing about boats. Now that it's been sent off for scrap after the hull plating fell apart under modest pressure washing, he's got himself a Fisher ketch and is actually doing some sailing.
