Continued from earlier post.
There is lots to see and do in Barcelona - I think someone once said that it is the modern Paris. Barcelona is bristling with architecture.
We stayed for just three nights and only scraped the surface of things to do.
It is just short of 100 mile cruise from Sant Carles so we will be definitely going back.
With the weather forecast looking good and the sea beckoning, a crossing to the islands was imminent.
We didn’t plan to set off particularly early – we had found a really fresh fish market close to the marina and the boats needed topping up with fuel.
So, whilst we refuelled, the girls went shopping. They returned with a huge slab of fresh tuna – it looked like BBQ weather.
A four hour or so dash across was all it would take.
Every now and then, Warlock stopped and veered off track.
I wasn’t used to this sudden change of plan but it seems that whenever dolphins are spotted, they go off and play with them.
We soon adopted the same attitude.
There is a much better chance to entice dolphins to play under the bows and in the stern wake if you stop or slow down.
So, the crossing took a wee bit longer.
I have found that Jennywren runs more efficiently at 24/25 knots but I think Warlock gets a better range at a slightly slower speed.
This in mind all the cruising was done at between 23 and 25 knots.
If you thought that the sea was flat on the previous post, it got even flatter as we approached Pollenca on the north eastern corner of Mallorca.
Our loose plan was to stop for a late lunch and another swim in Formentor before heading off to Pollenca for the night.
The conditions if Formentor were perfect – very unlike earlier in the year when we popped in on our way back from Malta.
We rafted the boats and had a relaxing afternoon in this fabulous bay. Deep blue clear water and only a couple of other boats in sight.
I imagine that it isn’t like this in the height of summer.
But the water temperature was still 26 degrees!!!
Then – just a short hop round the headland to pick up some buoys in Pollenca.
We had reached FLATLAND
Yes the water here was definitely
FLATTER THAN A FLAT THING IN FLATLAND
We didn’t even bother to go ashore that evening even though we know of a great restaurant.
Instead, out came the slab of tuna that we had bought in the market in Barcelona and we christened Jennywren’s BBQ.
When we are cruising, most of the time we go ashore and try to find a nice restaurant.
But when we looked back over this cruise, we all agreed that this BBQ was our best meal of the week.
We did, however treat ourselves to breakfast in one of the little seafront bars.
This was the view from the little restaurant – paradise isn’t it?
And here’s a video clip – definitely FLATLAND
Remember - Date is October 29th

I would have stayed here longer but Warlock’s skipper wanted to show us more.
So off we went.
Do you think they miss their flybridge days? Or is this the way to travel?
And Jennywren followed - another video clip.

The next instalment has pics of the calas around the south of Mallorca.
Sorry it’s split up like this but, as you know, I can only get 20 pics per post.
