Well for the first time in 30 years NZ has not won any medals in Olympic yachting - absolutely disgraceful.

(Perhaps we can share in the Finn Gold through the Team NZ connection though - PLEASE can we???)

All abuse sadly accepted

To see a grown man descend to such pits of grovelling. Disgraceful.

What about we make you an honourary Brit, for services rendered to the forum, then you can share all our medals?

Re:Share all our medals

Little secret - it can get pretty cold in Melbourne, even get frosts. Concede though, apart from the frost bit, is generally warmer than here.

The Oz's are just like a big bunch of little Gollums running around with their precious's (medals those are). Very annoying errr I mean very impressive.

Now I've finished laughing!..... I can picture you as Gandalf, kicking the annoying, err, impressive inhabitants aside, whilst smoking a long thin pipe, and wielding a big staff.

The only problem I can see to living there are the Australians. Kick them all out and it would be a wonderful country. A bit like the US really ;)

Re:Ok Ok

If I was honest, but I am not, and it is the devil is making me cough this out, I would have to say that I have a good Wellington, NZ friend been working overseas in a place with a very nice climate for a few years. Now he is telling me he is thinking of moving to Queensland when he comes back 'cos he doesn't think he could stand the weather now /forums/images/icons/frown.gif.

Still it puts hair on ones chest and makes a man of one (even of the women in some instances).

Re:Share all our medals

Actually Brian we do have more than half the medals you do (plus of course the Rugby world cup) but we are labouring under a handicap. The colonisers we sent out there had a high representation of hurdlers (fence jumping in front of plod) sprinters (running away from plod) weightlifters (carrying booty) swimmers (jumping in the river to escape plod) and even relay runners ( high speed fencing of stolen goods). So its left us a bit poorer and you a bit richer in athletic gene pool terms.

Where do you stop? Well mostly in Earls court as far as I can see /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Lets put this medal thing in perspective:

Here in Oz there are only 20 million of us, if we had the same population as say Russia, we would have won 1,200 gold medals..........

No doubt NZ figures will very good too John, and I sympathise with you re sailing results.

Avagoodweekend.

But we would only have won 250 /forums/images/icons/frown.gif.

Anyway, good on Australia and I am the first to say that some of the reasons Australia has done so well in comparison is due to the it is ok to win attitude, something that has been positively discouraged here (like school games of netball where they are not allowed to keep the score because it is the game that counts!).

Anyway, as BrianJ says, I am an honorary Oz and pleased to be considered such.

You Avagoodweekend too...
