NW storm

They've been saying it's going to be windy but nothing like we've had here. I believe it was only upgraded to a red alert sometime this morn or late last night

That's as I saw it. Was an Orange alert upgraded to Red..............once the winds had hit.

With all these storms we've had recently they have, to my knowledge, never once mentioned the word ''hurricane''................wonder why that should be :D

Passed by Kip Marina this afternoon and saw at least one boat on the hard on its side. Anyone for a cradle discussion

Visited mine this afternoon and it was fine at the RFYC in a cradle. The fence over the road was more or less completely blown out at the Len Lothian storage centre. Actually everyone's boat appeared fine including those overwintering in the harbour. One blown out headsail was the limit of any damage.

Any FCYC members may want to have a look at the boat yard fence facing the western harbour.

Any other harbour/marina reports?

Went down to the boat in Port Edgar this morning (underneath the Forth Road Bridge). We had one broken warp so replaced and doubled up the others. Boat sharing our finger had sunk (small motor boat) and next finger along was breaking up with a fairly large motor boat attached. Water was wild with pontoons moving violently. As it was a Bank Holiday no-one in the office so reported damage to security - hopefully he phoned the management.I have never seen the Forth so wild, almost pure white with spray blown off the waves.

Confirmed on the News tonight, Met office upgraded the alart to RED at 0815 this morn.

Worst one since 98!

Well!.... on the Tele tonight they were saying that it’s the worst one since the Boxing Day storm of 98… & I’m definitely missing some roof tiles..... :(

Sadly looks like the Grand Designs house at Kilcreggan has lost its roof today

Also a picture of Largs seafront on there. I passed today after the tide had gone out. It looked like a bomb had gone of. The heavy iron benches were strewn all over the place and the tarmac had been lifted from the prom and was covering the grass area and the road.

30 m/s (60kts) and gusting to 36m/s (72kts) is what we've had here on the West Coast of Sweden... no fun! It seems as there has been a lot more 'storms' this winter than last, or is it just I've deleted them off my hard drive??
Still no snow to speak of YET, but it'll come...the git!! NOT looking forward to that as my cover is extremely saggy..
