Novice Motorboat Cruiser

Thanks, good replies. We don`t want to rush into anything but both of us have been friends since school and talked about it many times over the years. Don`t want to trailer it as we need at least a 3 berth preferably 4 so it will be based in a marina. Kawasaki being a beginner on this forum don`t know how you can send me details. I gather on some forums there is a policy for these things but if you get me the info it will be considered, Gordon

Unless a boat can be sourced in Scotland transport will be a factor in all purchases, could be factored in with an offer though, it's an example of what I thought might be suitable at reasonable cost.
Agreed better if you live nearer, though a good boat will be worth more than the difference in a years fuel consumption.

Distance I don`t think would necessarily be a deal breaker. I have gone online and got quotes for things like transport, insurance, marina costs etc. and basically we just need to agree on budget, 3/4 berth, diesel, , semi displacement fisher/cruiser. We are in no hurry but if the right boat at the right price is out there we are in a position to buy, subject to survey of course !! Gordon

Your in no rush.

Yep blatant advertising is frowned on.

Just fettling My boat at the Mo.
In readiness for next season
But will probably sell Her

Have need of a different type of vessel these days.

'Google' about on Nimbus 27's
See what you think.

The Nimbus type will fit your bill it seems.

Anyway, would be a nice trip up to Your end.
No muckin about with road transport:D

Plus, a nice trip to Wales for you to look at Her!

See
Tiss easy to get round blatant advertising:D:D:D

Now come on Kawasaki, do I really as a beginner want to buy a boat from someone who lists their occupation as bashing pontoons and keeping engines going !!

I know you understand Kwacka has an unusual sense of humour...:)

If you negotiated an instructional delivery trip back home, you could be on a winner. The boat has the right breeding, and no doubt would have any 'issues' already sorted.

Well a BIG thank you to anyone who gave us such useful advice and to everybody else who ever posts on these forums. I`m afraid we well and truly bust our initial budget and bought a Merry Fisher 805. It passed it`s survey to-day with just a couple of minor things to be sorted and while it is out the water we are having it properly anti-fouled as it would appear that it was never primed prior to painting in the first place so needs done. We are going on a Power Boat Level 2 course next week so hopefully scaring and amusing people soon. Thanks again, Gordon

Hi Gordon. I've got a motor home and i bet like yours its got to be diesel. My boat also as i dont much like the idea of sleeping next to 200 gals. of petrol. When i had a smaller boat on a trailor i used to drag it around to Tesco to fill it up with petrol. These days the motrhome is for the wife and the dog,and the boat is for me and my mates..no contest.

"I'm afraid we -------------bust our initial budget" Tee Hee!! Very common problem I'm afraid - happens/ed to many of us. Probably not the last time you'll do it as well.
Good luck and I hope you have some great fun with the new >£50k!! toy.
