UKHO Permanent/Preliminary/Temporary Notices:
1. ENGLAND - East Coast - Buoyage. - This Notice confirms the Trinity House notice announced in week 37 (vide TH NtM No 24) advising the move of the West Corton, North Holm and Mid Corton buoys. Image at Notices to Mariners
2. ENGLAND - East Coast - Depths. - One reduction of depth on the northern tail of the Aldeburgh Ridge off Aldeburgh.
Local Notices:
1. River Thames - GRAVESEND REACH - DREDGING OPERATIONS - On or around 4th October 2022 the vessel MAAS will commence water injection dredging operations at Tilbury 2 CMAT, Gravesend Reach. Dredging will take place on the ebb tide only, with expected completion around 7th October 2022. The vessel is required to display lights and signals as per the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea and maintain a listening watch on VHF channel 68.
Further details will be broadcast by London VTS on VHF Channel 68. Image on the above quoted web page in the Local List.
2. River Thames - GREENWICH REACH - LOCAL TRAFFIC CONTROL - FIREWORKS DISPLAY - On Thursday 6th October 2022 there will be a firework display mid-channel in Greenwich Reach, which will commence at 20:15 and will last for approximately 3 minutes. In order to accommodate the display a 100m exclusion zone will be established around the firework barge, as detailed below. Local Traffic Control will be established from 20:05 between Greenwich Pier and Trafalgar Tavern, until the completion of the firework display. Local Traffic Control will be undertaken by attending Harbour Service Launches displaying flashing blue lights, stationed 100m from the firework barge. Mariners are instructed not to navigating within 100m of the firework barge. Only vessels involved with the fireworks barge and emergency service vessels responding to an incident are permitted to enter the 100m safety zone around the firework barge.
All vessels in this area must navigate with caution, maintaining a continuous watch on VHF Channel 14 and follow the instructions from the Harbour Service Launches exhibiting flashing blue lights; call sign prefix ‘THAMES PATROL’.
Further details will be promulgated by London VTS on VHF Channel 14 during routine river broadcasts.
3. Harwich and Felixstowe Approaches - Dredging Operations – Rotterdam (Channel Operations) - From around the 29 September 2022, the trailing hopper suction dredger Rotterdam will be working in various sections of the deep water channel including areas D, E, F, G and H as shown in the above quoted web page on the Local List and will be disposing of material at the Inner Gabbard East disposal area. For detailed information regarding the location of the dredging plant, please contact Harwich. VTS (VHF 71) or listen to the daily Channel Deepening VHF broadcasts (VHF 11). The dredging contractor is the Van Oord / Boskalis Westminster Joint Venture appointed by Harwich Haven Authority to carry out the Harwich Haven Channel Deepening Project.
4. THE SWALE – KINGSFERRY BRIDGE - Period of Restricted Operation - due to planned industrial action by the rail Union RMT there will be disruption to the operating periods for Kingsferry Bridge. The strikes are planned for Saturday 8th of October 2022, however, the impact will also affect periods outside of this day. Network Rail have implemented contingency plans which will cover part of the disruption, please see below for the bridge operational timetable:

07:00 – 19:00 Contingency operator on shift – Bridge lifts available

Priority will be given to commercial shipping, however, leisure craft will also be able to transit the bridge but it is advised to give as much notice as possible to avoid delays. If talks between employers and the unions are successful and industrial action is avoided a cancellation notice will be issued. Admiralty Chart Number 2572 refers. Sunken Buxey Lighted Buoy – River Crouch - NAVIGATION - Mariners are advised that the Sunken Buxey Lighted Buoy in approximate position: 51°39.595 N, 001°00.765 E is unlit.
