1. BELGIUM - Buoyage. -
Two special yellow buoy west of Cadzand close to the shore are deleted. One buoy is designated ‘HD17’
2. FRANCE - North Coast - Buoyage. - Two new Yellow Special ODAS buoys close south of the Banc in Ratel (off Dunkerque) and four small moves of channel markers in the Chenal Intermediaire between the west and east entrances of Dunkerque.

1. RIVER THAMES - WOOLWICH REACH - ENVIRONMENT AGENCY THAMES BARRIER CLOSURES -
The Thames Flood Barrier will be closed once a month for test purposes, in accordance with a programme issued for a period of six months, commencing 01st November 2023. Listed below are the times between which the Thames Barrier will be closed to navigation for test purposes. During these periods’ navigation in the Thames Barrier Control Zone, between Margaretness and Blackwall Point, will be restricted and any movements in this area will require permission from London VTS.

The closures will be confirmed and promulgated by London VTS from 24 hours in advance of the operation by VHF radio on routine river broadcasts. From the start of each closing procedure until completion of the opening procedure vessels will be prohibited from transiting the Thames Barrier. Most closures are for approximately 2½ hours over the respective low waters. No vessel is to pass Margaretness inward bound or Blackwall Point outward bound once a Thames Barrier closure has commenced unless authorised by London VTS. 2. RIVER THAMES - ST. CLEMENT’S REACH - WHITE'S JETTY & BELL WHARF WORKS -
on or about 28th September 2023, works are expected to commence at White’s Jetty and Bell Wharf, the general locations of which are indicated by the red rectangle in the chartlet. These works are to remove the ladders from the jetty / wharf faces and will involve lifting operations and personnel working on the waterline. Workboats are expected to be in attendance, with works mainly being carried out in daylight hours for approximately 30 days from commencement. Requirements to proceed with caution or at slow speed will be made in accordance with the procedures set out in the Port of London Authority’s Port Information Guide, under ‘London VTS’, ‘Section 4’ with the International Code Flags ‘Romeo Yankee’. The display of these signals will be in addition to any lights or shapes required under local regulations and the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea. Further details will be broadcast as needed by London VTS on VHF channel 68.
3. RIVER THAMES - SEA REACH - OIKOS JETTY NO. 1 DREDGING - on or about 24th September 2023, contractors instructed by Oikos Storage Ltd. will commence dredging operations for Oikos No. 1 Jetty. The general location of the works is indicated by the red box on the charlet. These dredging operations will be carried out by the Water Injection Dredging method and will be conducted during ebb tides only. The area to be dredged comprises the Oikos No. 1 Jetty berth box as well as the rear, clearance channel and the approach / transit area to the berth. The dredging is expected to be complete within 5 days of commencement. Requirements to proceed with caution or at slow speed will be made in accordance with the procedures set out in the Port of London Authority’s Port Information Guide, under ‘London VTS’, ‘Section 4’ with the International Code Flags ‘Romeo Yankee’. The display of these signals will be in addition to any lights or shapes required under local regulations and the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea. Further details will be broadcast as appropriate by London VTS on VHF channel 68 & 69.
4. Works on Erwarton Beacon, River Stour - from 25 September 2023, maintenance works will be taking place on Erwarton Beacon in the River Stour for approximately 1 week. During this work the platform and name plate will be removed and replaced. The beacon light (Q(6)+LFl.15s) will not be affected by these works and will remain lit throughout. The tug Jean T and barge PFL 100 will be working at the beacon. Mariners are requested to pass at slow speed. Erwarton Beacon, South Cardinal 51o 57.114’ N 001o 13.234’ E. 5. River Medway - Saltpan Reach - BP IOG. No1 Jetty - Dredging Operations - dredging operations at BP IOG No.1 Jetty are now expected to take place between 2nd October 2023 and 9th October 2023 - Operations will be focussed around the “berthing box” and will be carried out by the water injection dredger ‘Mersey’ who will maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 74 at all times. ‘Mersey’ will display the required signals for respective operations by day and night, all vessels are requested to pass with caution, minimise their wash and monitor VHF Ch.74 at all times.
6. No. 30 – 2023 (Updated 25.09.23) - River Medway - Saltpan Reach - Isle Of Grain LNG Jetty 10 - Dredging Operations - operations are now due to take place at Grain LNG Jetty 10 on 2nd October 2023. Operations will be focussed around the “berthing box” and will be carried out by the water injection dredger ‘Mersey’ who will maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 74 at all times. Grain LNG Jetty 10 is located at the following approximate position:
No.10 Jetty 51° 25.94 N 000° 42.55 E. ‘Mersey’ will display the required signals for respective operations by day and night, all vessels are requested to pass with caution, minimise their wash and monitor VHF Ch.74 at all times.

7. PORT OF GREAT YARMOUTH - Vessel sunk River Yare - the derelict vessel Mako, has sunk in position Great Yarmouth Pilot Station 52°36’N 001° 43.8’E, berth 41 – 42. All vessels are advised to keep a wide berth (at least 5m) and report any sightings of debris to Great Yarmouth Harbour Office.
8. River Orwell Surveying Operations - from Tuesday 19th September 2023 the vessel “Christine H” will be conducting hydrographic surveying operations in the river Orwell and Ipswich berths. This will be completed by Friday 29th September. Mariners are advised to pass this vessel slowly and cautiously. A listening watch on VHF Channel 68 will be maintained at all times. Please contact ONS (Orwell Navigation Services) for more up to date information as to current areas of operation if required.

Number 4 on your list is a popular anchorage on the Stour. I will be passing it over the weekend and by then I dare say it will have had a new paint job and white light.

We can see the Jean T is right there now. I guess the barge with the Jean T will the same 'kit' that was used to lift the yacht in Mersea Quarters (for clarity, this is at the Quarters not at the Beacon)
