Just posted by Trinity House this evening:

On or after 30th April, they will be putting back the Foulger's Gat buoys. Plus there will be an extra buoy called 'Long Sand Middle'. I'll draw up a chartlet shortly showing their new positions when the cat has stopped attacking me!.

Is that the pussy cat or the Windcat? :)

That's a relief! Only asked because I tracked one of the Windcats going down the Orwell at 10 knots the other day. Suppose it's to "maintain steerage way"!

You're lucky! My unit is on the floor, and the power switch is built into the top edge of the case, and when the cat wants to "talk to me" he powers the PC down! Fortunately, changing the power button config to hibernate stops me losing any work!

Tillergirl, have you had any indication of the general depth in and around the Blackwater after the winter. The reason I ask is on Saturday I was sounding the depth around the Marconi moorings in readiness for mooring laying on the following weekends and found a lot less depth than last year. Also looking across towards Stone there seems to be a lot more mud visable than I remember from last year.

No, sorry. I am still laid up and so haven't got around yet. I suspect that there will be quite a few changes given those storms around the end of last year/new year.

Last Saturday evening, I anchored to the south of No 4, the beginning of Southey Creek off Osea. For several years there has been at least 2 metres there at LWS but now there would have been less than a metre if I'd stayed.
I moved over to the Osea side of the main channel and at the next morning's LW, saw that the spit from Northey extends right down to No 4 and Southey Creek looked much narrower.
I also stirred the mud entering Pyefleet at LWS, even though I was in the middle with No 12 abeam. I draw one metre.

For what its worth the beach at Millbeach is about 6 - 9 inches lower than it was before the winter so all that stuff has been displaced to somewhere.
I am off to find my store of tallow!!!
